In the wake of a host of new young Danish talent is an new artist dedicated to RnB and hip-hop on a plane level where the rhythm and rhymes count much higher than swear words and hand signs.
After 7 years in the music industry known as DJ BuddaSauce, the talented David Jatta has bloomed, and is now ready to challenge new markets as a solo artist. The name is David Jay.
David Jay’s debut was launched with a celebration on 3 September at The Lot, where he performed several of his songs from his mixtape. "For so many years I’ve played and rejoiced over the music of others. Now it’s time to do me!” says David Jay and continues "(...) with my knowledge of music it is clear that I get inspiration from many places, but I feel that I have found my own sound."
Over a period of two years, he has written his own lyrics, and now collaborating with Nephel Music producer Steven Mahona has produced a mixtape – far from what is normally expected from an artist in the Danish music scene.
The mixtape 'So Disrespectful' is most influenced by RnB but with David Jay being versatile he also touches on rapping. The mixtape includes some interesting features by Majid (DK), Kaaliyah(DK) and S.T.I.C.S (SWE).
Although David Jay is in the initial phase, he has already featured on releases like Greiff's debut single 'King Of The Future’ and DJ/Producer Faustix’s debut album 'Boombastix'. Most recently David Jay featured on UK artist Moonlight’s 'Holiday'.
"Music is my life and my life is music," says David, who was born and raised in Copenhagen. He has over the last few years been support and tour DJ for some of the world’s biggest RnB and hip-hop musicians, including Outlandish, Majid, Neyo, Black Street, Bow Wow, J. Cole and Mario. The expectations for his own music among connoisseurs is large and still growing rapidly.
Since the release David Jay has been busy touring in Europe and collaborating with international artist and producers.
